What's the fuss about Big Bang Theory

No, Not the One With Bazinga!

Over 10 years ago, a sitcom about four physics nerds made its way into our lives and made the term "Big Bang Theory"a constant in our day-to-day vocabulary. While rib-tickling comedy made me chuckle every now and then, it also made me wonder how today's youth connects the word Big Bang Theory to a TV show than the scientific theory of how our universe was formed.

Being a curious child, I had often wondered where did we came from, how was the earth formed and how the universe came into existence. Most of my questions were answered when I was first introduced to the big bang theory. A lot of people consider that big bang theory shines light on how the universe was created. That is incorrect! The big bang theory tells us how our universe expanded from tiny, dense matter to what it is today. It also states that the universe is continually expanding. So what is the big bang theory?

According to the big bang theory, also known as the theory of creation of everything, it all started with a hot and infinitely dense point that was only few millimeters wide. This supercharged point exploded/expanded to create matter, energy, space and time. It is believed that the expansion of this tiny dense substance continued to create stars, galaxies and planets as we know it.
